About Me

My name is Kieranne.
I am 21 years old and I live in Vista with my boyfriend Robert. I was born in Santa Monica and my family moved to Oceanside when I was very young. I went to school in Oceanside for kindergarten through 3rd grade. Then my parents got divorced and I moved with my mom to Carlsbad and went to 4th and most of 5th grade there. My mom and I then moved to Temecula towards the end of my 5th grade year and I continued the rest of my schooling there and graduated in 2009. After high school I started going to MSJC for my GE classes. About one year ago I moved to Vista and took one semester at MiraCosta CC. Throughout that whole time I thought that school was OK, but I was not very serious about it. I usually held a B average without really putting in much effort. I would usually to minimum to get a C or B. In college I would frequently skip classes and readings because I had always managed to get by without putting in too much work. Last semester was my first semester at CSUSM. It was also my first semester earning all A's. Earning A's was not super challenging work, however it was time consuming. It was also very rewarding and I am motivated to get all A's again this semester.

On the technology continuum, I would put myself at about a 7 on a scale from 1-10. I can easily do everything I need to with infrequent issues. I can also fairly easily learn new things with technology. I like technology and the computer revolution for all the positive things it has done for people. I do however think that people abuse it by ignoring people who are trying to talk to them and are instead on their computer or phone. I also dislike how it feels like everything I do is watched and/or recorded.

I had never read the CSUSM School of Education mission statement before I started here. I like the part that states that we are committed to student centered education because as I have learned more about what this means, I know that I agree with student centered teaching styles.

  1. Hey Kieranne,

I also think that technology can be super distracting and often times rude! I can't stand it when people are using their phone when talking to me or on Facebook in class. But on the other hand, I feel like technology will be a great teaching tool and can be another visual and/or audio aid for our future students. Great post.

  2. Kieranne, technology is incredibly distracting but I think if used in the classroom we may be able to use it for good. Hopefully. I can definitely related to your education experience as attaining good grades was not all that hard for me either K-12. However, time-consuming is the best way to put it for what is experienced in college.
