I watched the video titled 'We, Our Digital Selves, and Us'. This was a very interesting video that I thought related very strongly to our class and what we are doing with this blog, and it also related the NETS standard 5 which is Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership. It talks about how teachers need to show leadership in their community. Sites like Edmodo show that they are with the times and I think it would reassure parents that the teacher is with the times and can keep up with technology. Another way is through the use of technology infusion and a teacher who can do things like have an online presence. One thing we have been considering in class is how prevalent the online world is today. Our future employers will more than likely be googling us before they make a decision to hire us. Then once we do begin working, we will also likely be searched by our students' parents. We need to be aware of this, and make sure that our online presence reflects the teacher we will be one day. This video talked about defining your own online identity instead of letting it define you.
